Corset Revival Project by Claire Garvey

This is what I actually do for a living using reclaimed
bodices outfits and giving them a new lease of life. I have my own sustainable shop in
Dublin’s Temple Bar for the last 24years and have designed for The Oscars, Emmys,
Grammys, Cannes and London Film Festival.
The Story Behind the Corset: My corset is inspired by Cliodhna Goddess Of The Seaw who protects the Irish Waters from pollution and debris.
I started the process by cutting up old foam mats that I had and hand-dyeing them blue
Inside them was old piping and filing cabinet spine files to make them stand up and give
the illusion of waves
Old clear plastic was cut in strips too, to make it look saline, while I used pearls from an
old top to give the piece detail . The shimmery silver denim on the sides was cut from an old
pair of jeans and reclaimed remnants of wool from Recreate in Ireland, a place where
factories can put their waste and the public can use was also used
