Short introduction about yourself: I am a multidisciplinary artist and digital couturier whose work sits between fashion, sculpture, and storytelling. My practice explores how garments can function as expressive art objects while engaging with sustainability and circular design. I am particularly interested in transforming reclaimed materials through traditional craft techniques, creating pieces that merge heritage methods with contemporary ideas of resilience, identity, and renewal.
Describe your corset in one sentence: Resilience Woven is a sculptural corset crafted from reclaimed materials, using hand-knotted macramé to transform a symbol of restriction into one of strength, renewal, and quiet power.
The story behind the corset: Resilience Woven explores transformation through both material and meaning. Historically, the corset has often been viewed as a symbol of restriction, but this design reimagines it as a form of strength and self-agency.
The piece is constructed using reclaimed materials, aligning with circular fashion principles and demonstrating how existing resources can be reshaped into something new and meaningful. The sculptural macramé work forms organic patterns across the bodice, inspired by natural growth such as roots and flowers. These motifs represent resilience — the ability to continue growing despite pressure or constraint.
Macramé was chosen intentionally as the primary technique. It is a slow, hand-crafted process that requires no machinery or chemical bonding, allowing the piece to be constructed through knots and structure alone. This approach reduces environmental impact while emphasising the value of craftsmanship and repairability.
Through texture, form, and sustainable construction, Resilience Woven transforms the corset from an object historically associated with limitation into a contemporary symbol of empowerment, endurance, and transformation.
