Have you ever noticed that when you wear polyester, you smell worse more quickly? That’s not just sweat — that’s your body reacting to synthetic fibres.
As someone passionate about circular fashion and textile health, this is a topic I’ve always wanted to bring into public discussion!
I recently came across this powerful episode of the Sustainable Fashion Podcast by Jacob Kenneally featuring Jeff Garner, titled “Hidden Toxins & Sustainable Fashion” – and it struck a chord with me.

This story really shocked me, that’s why I shared it.

If polyester can do that to animals, what is it doing to us and our children?
As a mother, I also worry that my daughter’s school uniform is made of polyester.
These fabrics, made from fossil fuels, aren’t just bad for the planet — they may be harming our health too.
I’m currently looking for our upcoming International Circular Fashion Conference (21–22 May 2025) in Leeds an academic speaker or health researcher who has studied the health effects of synthetic fibres (especially polyester) and could speak at our event.
Please DM me or tag someone who might be a good fit.
It’s time to rethink what we wrap our bodies in.
